My grandmother's father lost his arm in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gallipoli , subsequently, having to raise two daughers on his own with only a single arm, partaking of rat poison, and on telling his mother of this, my grandmother recounts, being about five or six years old at the time bit still recalling it, being told by his mother, my great-great-grandmother, "well, you better go lie down then"; subsequently, his death was ruled accidental, and my grandmother, her sister, and their grandmother were able to receive veteran's benefits, and I am alive today.
Long story short, yeah, that particular day means a lot to me.
