ANZAC Day was last Friday And I missed it. Sorry, no disrespect intended. If any of our Australian or New Zealander members know a surviving vet, please pass on the profound respects of a U. S. Marine NCO

FWIW, Jeff Cooper, during a tour at the Amphibious Warfare School at Quantico, wrote that the faculty did a post-analysis briefing as part of the curriculum. He stated that they determined that the Command had violated all seven of the basic principles of amphibious assault (which he did not enumerate). Had Command even gotten two of the seven right, the ANZAC Corps could have pulled it off, in spite of the Command's incompetence.

The ANZAC Corps had some brass-balled dudes....

My grandmother's father lost his arm in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gallipoli , subsequently, having to raise two daughers on his own with only a single arm, partaking of rat poison, and on telling his mother of this, my grandmother recounts, being about five or six years old at the time bit still recalling it, being told by his mother, my great-great-grandmother, "well, you better go lie down then"; subsequently, his death was ruled accidental, and my grandmother, her sister, and their grandmother were able to receive veteran's benefits, and I am alive today.

Long story short, yeah, that particular day means a lot to me.
