See, no. When you believe, really believe, that there is a God and a Satan, and that they inteact with the world, this is the sort of cognitive dissonance that results. He most likely honestly believes what he is saying. Doesn't make it less stupid, but I don't think he was joking or being dishonest about his thoughts.
