Yamamoto is weeping...
Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force recruitment videos
The heirs to the heroes (there is no other word) who brought about Tsushima Straits, the heirs to the men of whom US Naval Historians would write, "If you are beaten, it is a salve to your pride to know that you were beaten by a skilled opponent - and [Imperial Japanese Admirals] were very skilled indeed" - the heirs to those men are reduced to this?
Words fail me....

Define "Good". In your counter, I saw the traditional squid, "It's not just a job, it's an adventure" BS. IOW, your counter is the same recruiting pitch the American swabjockeys and pierqueers ran a quarter-century ago. It's just updated for this so-called "Modern Age"
I'm sorry, kid, but this is worse. This is like the CAV suddenly dressing up in war bonnets with feathers instead of slouch hats with crossed sabers. This is the 82nd wearing airfarce "bus-driver" hats instead of maroon berets. This is my Glorious and Beloved Corps forsaking all its history, tradition, honor, and integrity, and agreeing to merge with the Army's leg infantry. Fuck that on a pogo stick, kid!
It's a matter of honor. Consider the following bit of unofficial doctrine:
"Every Marine that served before me is my father.
"Every Marine that serves with me is my brother"
"And every Marine that will serve after me is my son."
If the Japanese "old Navy" has anything that even vaguely resembles a sense of honor, I cannot possibly imagine Saburo Sakai claiming the Disco Swabbies as his children...

Wow.
Uh, huh. I can only think that anime has rotted, in the putrid sense, something that should be noble there.
*cringes*
