I recently swapped out my old cable modem for a new one. The old one was starting to fail, so I called Comcast (the local cable company) and they gave me a new one for free. Today I was downloading a file, and I noticed abnormally high download speeds...so I did about 20 speed tests, all on various sites, methods, and software...and they all gave me pretty much this same result. How is this possible? I thought cable capped out at about 1.5 Mb/s? |

Actually cable caps out closer to 5, 10 and 15 depending on the service these days. Congrads! |

Bandwidth doubles every two years. If you modem is older than that, it wouldn't be capable of the new, higher speeds. T1 lines are antiquated. |
