New Evangelion Movies
I have come across something interesting concerning the Evangelion series as we all know it. They are coming out of 4 new Evangelion movies. The first has already been released over in Japan. It is called Neon Genesis Evangelion: You Are (Not) Alone. From my understand it basically comprises the first 6 Episodes of the Series, with a few minor tweaks and changes. One thing I had heard is the 5th Angel Ramiel is not only the flying pyramid fortress, but apparently is a Geometric Shape Shifter. I am currently unsure when we will be hearing of an English version of the movies, but I am hoping it will be sooner rather than later. Here are a couple of links to help you learn more about it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0923811/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfKp0ujM174

Re: New Evangelion Movies
Sounds good to me. I'll have to get them on DVD when they come out over here in the US, set aside a week's worth of free time, and prepare to get mind-fucked once again, just like the first time I watched the series in its entirety.
Anyway, I heard that Kaworu would play a bigger role. That's always a plus.

Re: New Evangelion Movies
I have successfully downloaded the Raw version of the first movie... And Oh My God. What I heard was correct. They actually improved upon it. I never thought that was possible... but they did it.
I have also purchased the soundtrack for You Are (Not) Alone. The original soundtrack has been remastered.

Re: New Evangelion Movies
its like they're trying to turn Eva back into a real Super Robot show... if you know what i mean
and to imagine we got 3 more to go...
for those who've watched it... doesn't some parts remind you of the manga version?

Re: New Evangelion Movies
Definitely some manga influence in the "remakes". Finally watched it this weekend. I think the most dramatic change I've seen already is how the angels, particularly Mr. Ramiel, the D8 Angel, have turned from slightly cartoony and surreal to disturbing and terrifying. I'm so VERY much looking forward to the next angel, as we'll get to see the infamous underwater and ship-hopping battle with Unit 2.

Re: New Evangelion Movies
Not seen it and not going to see it until I've either learned Japanese or it's got subs. But I do know that they said it was going to be different, especially the 3rd and 4th movies. Heck it bloody well should be, Anno's not depressed and em0 any more. Well at least not as much as he was, and Gainax is rich as all hell from all the merch whoring they do. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: New Evangelion Movies
Yeah, Ramiel, here... for the first time, I understood why everyone was so freaked out by it. Sure, it had the giant death cannon, but so did pretty much every other angel.
Here though... damn, I just *love* they way it's portrayed as living and moving in 4d (5d?) space, only a very small part of it appearing in our 3d world at a time.
Truly fearsome.

Re: New Evangelion Movies
I'm going to wait for subs.
Personally, I'm hoping for some kind of apocolyptic showdown between the EVAs and Adam in its complete form. That's the thing that always frustrated me about the original series, is that we didn't get to see enough of Adam.

Re: New Evangelion Movies
I'm glad. Honestly, the scene in the original where Adam spreads his massive wings and causes Second Impact is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in an anime.
I hope they hurry up and get this subbed; I really wanna see it now.
