when I was writing Together we Stand, I was also listening to the wall for very nearly the first time. I put quotes from it up at the start of every chapter. I thought i was being cute.

now I'm not so sure.

consider this:
the redhead girl, who may or may not be the woman Pink eventually weds, lives across the street. while she changes, Pink sits in his room, smokes what appears to be a joint and beats his meat. he has mommy issues, and eventually begins to wonder if he's in charge of his career as a singer of if the career is in charge of him. he ends up in a downward spiral of depression that culminates in a huge moment of psychological judgment where the walls he's built up to separate himself from the rest of the world shatter under the weight of his own isolation.

the parallels are kind of freaky when you really start to think about it.

what I wonder is this- did Anno base Asuka off the Redhead? I have a hard time believing the Wall had NO influence over Eva. fun food for fougth... thought. damnit.
