Post B.R. I, or II?
Having just seen BR II, I thought I'd ask the question. Which one hit you the hardest? The original, or the sequel?

It's a tough call, but I'd probably go for BR; the ideas that it raised weren't as far-reaching, but they were explored with somewhat more coherence, I thought. The idea of having to kill your best friends just to survive, of the things you go through to be able to do that... The drama, the emotional intensity, were phenomenal. I remember sitting in front of the TV after it was over, and taking five minutes to get my brain online. BR II made some interesting points, about American foreign policy, terrorism and its nature, but I didn't feel like it hit as hard.

Thoughts?

Unless you're talking about a wrestling thing, I've not heard of this. If it is wrestling, well, it's time wasted while you could be playing Doom3! ^_^

Having just gone out, bought n watched Battle Royale 2. I am amazed by it as i knew i would be. both films are fantastic and both hit hard for different reasons. BR for the personalness and intimacy of the deaths and the emotion of the characters. BR 2 because it appeals to a world audience and the demonstration of the tryanny of the world governments that we don't see in BR. Two Fanastic movies that left me stunned at the end.

I only have the DVD for the Special Edition of BR I. I've seen both, like I said, but...2 left me cold, kinda. Yeah, there was political and social commentary in 2, but there were so many things being said about so many different topics, that it got incoherent. And something like half the class gets killed off, without any kind of backstory or discussion. Then again, maybe I was expecting more of the same from it; I didn't think I was, but you never know.

Anyway, short version, I liked 1 better, but 2 did have some interesting things to say, even if they were drowned in gallons of blood. :)

(P.S.; I think it says what that music is in the credits for BR II. Something about 'requiem', I think. Don't quote me, though.)

Where did you get the DVD? I've been meaning to see BR since the first one came out in Japan, but could never get my hands on a copy.

Well, I first found the movie in a Blockbuster near me. (Ugh, that sounded like a commercial.) Then, I found the special edition in an HMV.
