"God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own
devising which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other
players (i.e. everybody), to being involved in an obscure and complex version of
poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer
who won't tell you the rules and _smiles_all_the_time_."

"You know, Hitler wanted to be an artist. At eighteen he took his inheritance, seven

Fine Arts and later to the School of Architecture. Ever see one of his paintings?
Neither have I. Resistance beat him. Call it overstatement but I'll say it anyway:

Actually, I've seen some of Hitler's "art." Nice, I guess, but not really inspired. Flowers, buildings, cobblestones, typical retiree stuff.

I've seen his "architecture" and read Speer's autobiography. You know how featureless blocks of mind-destroying worker's low-rent housing looks? Yeah. He wanted to do THAT to downtown Berlin. Buildings all the same height, mostly square, very little decoration, same colour, for MILES. The style of Nazi Germany came from Speer (the inspiring massive banners, the "cathedral of light") and from tailors. Hitler had nothing to do with it. His favorite uniform colour was plain brown, for Pete's sake.

Hitler couldn't draw figures. He couldn't paint a picture of a person worth a damn.

Plus he was a repressed homosexual. Repressing your sexuality like that leads to all sorts of neurosis.

Everyone is homosexual with you, aren't they? First Lincoln, now Hitler. Who's next? Jean Chretien?

Hitler was known to Vienna police as a male prostitute. While, granted, that doesn't necessarily make him gay, it does mean he didn't mind taking it up the ass. That and most of the ranking members of the Nazi party were gay, openly so (the leader of the Hitler Youth was an openly gay paedophile). In fact one high ranking member of the Party, I think it was G?ring, complained that advancement in the party should not be based on sexual prefference.

All French men seem gay to me anyway.

Hitler WAS sexually messed-up, and part of that was some noticable homosexuality.

Again, "repressing your sexuality" does diddly all. Hitler especially isn't a case for repression -> neurosis. His neuroses did just fine with or without sex. HS males are the least sexually repressed group we've ever seen, and they've got plenty of problems. This "sexual repression" idea is absolutely ludicrous. There's all sorts of wierd conspiracy theories you can level at the Puritans or Victorians or whoever if you actually believe that crap, but you have to hold the most astounding contradictions together to do so- and that, I think, is more indicitave of neuroses than not screwing everything that moves.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our dark that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsiously give other people to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
? Nelson Mandella

I found that one today, realized I haven't been in the WAR since February, (Sacrilege! Blasphemy! I know, I know...) and had to post it because I thought it was oddly significant to what's going on in Missionaries.

Also, for a bit of random fun:
"Every time you jump into the deep end and the second you get to the bottom you're like 'Get me out of here! Where's the surface!' And then you always come up under the kid on the raft. 'Jesus Christ Timmy! Do not float above me when I'm dying in the abyss! Your son almost killed me with his Daffy Duck raft over here John. Your kid tried to murder me in your pool. Just float away from me Timmy, float away."

My God, this thread has fallen on hard times; people are once again quoting themselves in fanfics. I shall remedy this.

"Sailor Moon is the shoujo DBZ."
- Sparky. Or Spike. Whatever.

I laughed my balls off. Because it's true. It's so very true.
