A Question For The Hooze
You once mentioned that you were a tatoo artist. Could you do a tatoo of the "power" symbol with the phrase under it: "Turn On, Log In, Drop Out."?

Uh... No, not Kanji. I mean the electronics symbol, like the one on the front of your computer by the power switch.

You mean the "O" with a "l" in it?
I won't speak for her, but she has been known to make some pretty awesome flaming pirate ships. I think that should be well within her mega-l33t tatoo skillz

Doesn't the book of Leviticus say something about no tatoos or piercings? //Searches for verse// Yeah, Leviticus 19:28 says not to. Too bad for you. :(

I'll refrain from posting a long and detailed explanation about why you're being an asshole again. Your readings of the text, as always, are violent and incorrect. The short answer;
Interpretation ensures the validity of a text; a correct interpretation does not take a universally literal view. "Don't lie" is easy to understand. "Don't cut yourselves for the dead" is not so easy to understand. In short, tattoos aren't necessary to salvation and may or may not encourage spiritual problems in those whose histories involve tattoos in a spiritual manner. To those who tattoos do not represent a spiritual problem- i.e. those, like myself, who've not tattood the symbols of foreign gods into our skins- it's not an issue.
Like Fiss said, stop trying to bait "the religious." If the R&P forums are getting too dry for you, go find some rah-rah-God forum out there and taunt THEM. Leave us alone.

It never even occurred to you that I might actually be asking for interpretation on a passage of the Bible because you're a theology student, did it?

Phrasing it in the form of a question might have helped.

Frankly, given
1) Your history of antagonism toward Christianity,
2) The tone of your post, including "too bad for you," and
3) The fact that every other time you've linked Bible passages, you've been making a point about how you think the Bible is stupid, or wrong, or evil,
no, it didn't occur to me that you were asking my opinion.
Other things, like your not asking any questions that you didn't answer in your post, rather support the supposition that you were being an asshat again. Fiss also noticed. B also noticed.
If you HAVE a question, feel free to PM me. If you make snide comments about religion, expect me to respond with increasing exasperation. Trying to claim you didn't really mean it is, frankly, transparent and lame.

Agreed. 90% of all "arguments" here could have been avoided outright by careful consideration of the phrase used to challange someone or some idea. Not that we aren't all guilty of this, and deep down, we are all at least 34.9% more awesome than most forum people so I let it slide.
Just keep it in mind.
Or Hooze will tatoo things on your wang. And no, you won't like them.
On that note, I'm getting the FMA cross done on my shoulder eventually. Once I have the guts, anyway.

besides, leviticus says a LOT of things. read it sometime. it's fucked up.
It's also old testament. by what i understand, big J-C kinda said "hey, remember dad's old books? all those rules that kept you outta trouble? I'ma simplify itS stop being boneheads. welcome to self-sufficient responsibility. use your judgment."
or something like that.
Toze isn't jewish, or crazy-southern-baptist, and therefore he isn't bound to anything in the the book of Leviticrazy.
That's my 2 yen for the topic.
(DISCLAIMER: I don't think anything ill of Judaism, I hold it with the same respect I have for any other religion, including my own, and excluding crazy-southern-baptist. those people are just... yeah. I mention Judaism because it's based partially on the OT, whereas Christianity will often come with a bible that starts from the NT. I should know, I used to have one.)

Also, in keeping with my ongoing old-testament theory...
SITUATION: It's the age of Leviticus. Your son decides it's cool to scratch a design into his arm so it scars. Unfortunately, lacking modern sterile tattoo-parlor equipment, he gets gangrene and loses the arm. Wouldn't you be happy to hear that the local temple just added a rule banning the cutting of your own flesh?
I maintain that the rules in the OT were likely extremely valid when they were written. Imagine what you could catch from pork if you didn't have modern sterile meat processing. It's all about taking it into modern context and stripping the archaic application. I read this passage as "hey boneheads! don't do things that can cause infections!" The old bible was as much a handbook for survival as it was a guide to spirituality.
DISCLAIMER: I make no claims to be an expert or even have more than a passing knowledge of biblical verse/interpretation. I am merely in possession of a decently sharp and open mind and I enjoy reading into the roots of society and religion. If I've misquoted or misrepresented anything, I apologize. My views are presented only as a possibility, not as fact or even firm belief.
EDIT: I apologize for so blatantly encouraging this thread to continue to go so far off-topic. I was very tired when I wrote this. I stand by my words, however.

Yeah, Spike's basically right. One modifier is that the OT has a bunch of theology and things to say about God and Man, all of which is retained and built on in the NT.
And yes, Southern Baptists are insane. They're only a small part of the baptist tradition, however, and most baptists agree the S-Bs are crazy. Snake biting and no having fun and exorcisms every sunday does not good theology make.

Bible= up for interpretation. There are also passages in the bible that say I can own slaves, as long as they are from neighbouring countries. What the hell would I do with a heard of Americans?? Well, other than clean my apartment periodically...
....that aside, so long as you have reference material of the image that you want, since it's fairly specific, yes. It can be done. I also specialize in custom work, so if one wanted to funk it up, that can be done as well. TA DA!

Oh, if anyone's wondering, I moved the degenerating BS to Religion and Philosophy. And locked it.
Guys, please keep in mind that this was a question about tatoos...
It ended up a freaking crusade.
ALL parties need to excersize restraint...keep in mind the topic...and not take things personally.
