Post A really big ute or a small truck
Okay I'm looking at getting a new vehicle seeing as I'm working from home making furniture and being a general handyperson for friends. And as it turns out I apparently am doing something right. I'm making money. And I've found out I need a nice new ute or small truck. Only I've got a problem I want this Serria 3500. Which means I'm probably going to have to import it from the states, convert it to right hand drive and all sorts of other things.
I admit I'm not much of a car person I'm asking any fellow Australians on the WAR Board... Is there any chance of getting a similar vehicle here in Australia? I've googled it but I've not had much luck.

And does anyone else have any ideas on a suitable vehicle? Keep in mind it needs to be capable of zombie killing when the apocolypse happens

Luckily, while model names will change from continent to continent, most manufacturers DO have factories that will churn out simular product to local spec. Classic example I know of is the Crysler line. They actually test and sell many of their high-end super-sedans in Australia before marketing them in the UK or US.

I'll do some hunting and see what I can find. Worst-case, just get a print out of the Sierra's specs and features so you can take it to the dealer and say: "You want my sale? Gimme." and point to it, instead of saying "I want a truck..." and letting them take you off track.

I have decided I'm gonna get a custom built pickup/small truck, if it's allowed here in Australia. And I've got the perfect Idea

It'll be based off a 8 tonne truck chassis (converted to a pickup), 4x6 wheel drive, 6.0 L Turbodesiel V8 at the least, front and rear winches, Spotlights on a semi roll bar type thingy behind the extended Cab, 5 post bullbar, recessed loading rails allowing specialized Modular pallets to be locked down. Styling similar to the original Ford F-150's (ie as unsubtle as a brick through a plate glass window) A small hydralic loading crane. And a towbar. Manual gearbox.

Yeah it might be a dream but it's my dream...

Jeez, what are you planning to do with this truck, service oil wells?

No, not service oil wells (though that'd be fun) But I want something that I can use for my job, and something that I can load up and take off in to go offroading.

My job has me shifting heavy objects fairly regularly and since my left leg is pretty much crippled I have problems loading my current pickup. That's what the crane is for. The recessed loading rails is for the pallet idea I came up with. I'll be able to load specialised pallets according to what job I'm doing. Also the reason I want such a big tray space is so I'm not constantly towing a trailer. The towbar is if I need to tow a car-trailer or something.
