That's it! Anyone caught THINKING 'garter' at our reception gets forcibly escorted out of the area by the groomsmen! ::shudders:: I haaaaaaates those stupid, STUPID traditions!!! They make me wanna PUKE!! GRR!

Lady Senie

Could I get forcibly escorted out of the area by the groomsmen? I'm thinking I can show up with some sort of unorthodox weapon... chopsticks. No no, something better. A claymore. Ahahaha! I'll be in my formal wear kilt that I'd wear to a wedding anyway, but with a CLAYMORE! Then I fight the groomsmen one after another until they are all defeated. Then the groom himself steps in and, at his own wedding, the Fiss is defeated. Then the lady Senie is taken as a prize and put on auction to the highest bidder at an all-otaku auction house. Yes. I can see the carnage now. Slain groomsmen all over, bridesmades swooning in terror, and the Fiss in his tuxedo, bloddy and beaten, begging for mercy... yes.....
No, not begging for mercy, but admitting defeat!

A WEDDING SWORD CHALLENGE MUST BE MADE!

*Sets to work in preperation*

I'm looking forwards to meeting this one at the wedding...

There. Thanks for the credit, Audrin- now for the rest of you, no claiming I'm some loud tough asshole who doesn't care about anyone. I'm a loud tough asshole who, sometimes, does.

That statement is true on all counts.

How rich are you?

If you got the bux, go:

http://www.bugei.com

If you're going midrange, try:

http://www.coldsteel.com

A dedicated swordsman can give you a lot more - these are just the two I happened to run across and remembered.

Well, I happen to live in a town with a couple of professional bladesmiths...

But a good chisel will set you back 150 - 300, a knife 250-500+, so probably add another 0 to that for a sword.

What were you looking for? I got a decent price on a lower end Paul Chen katana online. If you're looking for anything in particular I'll let you know what I come across in my general browsing.

The Orchid Katana is at the top of my wishlist. :D I saw one of them at the house of knives and I almost died. Gorgeous sword it is.

http://www.swordsonline.com

That site has swords, knives, and accessories.

They have a sharpness and quality rating system for their weapons and let me just say this. I've got three very nice daitos. All three are well balanced wooden weapons worthy for use as a practice swords. I keep one in my car.

Oooooo...*drools over pretty swords*

Okay, as to swords at the wedding, can we get a run down of who's carrying what? Fiss with the Katana, naturally, Toz, what exactly does a...hmmm...can't spell the name of your sword...look like? And didn't I hear claymore from someone else?

Zweihander. From the german "Zwei" for the number 2, and ... well, I'm sure you can figure out the rest. ;)

And it looks like a ruddy great cleaver.

Assuming my blacksmith hasn't skipped town, which may have happened. Dammit.

I believe this is an example of the beast: http://64.2.37.70/zweihander.html

Correct length and weight (ginormous), but the shape is dfferent. Blade on one side, thick back. "zweihander" can refer to any two-handed german sword, from what I understand.

Ooohoohoohoo... *drools* Very nice. Very very nice. :D

As the name means, literally, 2-hander, yeah, it could refer to nearly any german two-handed sword. There are several different models of zweihander that are based on a single outline, but they are as similar as a Pentium 4 and an AMD Duron.

I'll be carrying a katana, nothing too fancy though. The really nice ones are out of my price range...by a full digit. T_T Even if it's a lower-end Chen blade, my new one is still respectable. Better than the giant butter-knife I had to settle for previously.

especially when we're suppose to be talking about wedding traditions....

anyway... what religion/culture is it that have people throwing plates on the floor when people get married?

Greek, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure why, though. Any thoughts? (no, there will be no ceramics-throwing at Senie's and my wedding.)
