Woah woah woah...
Now, Senie's character was a spare we had when Kersputz was wanting to play and since it was kind of spur-of-the-moment, worked out well. Even better when the whole explody-magic thing was added on. VERY cool concept, but several things lead to the eventual explosion of the Bard.
-First of all, the Meat-Tank Paladin wet himself instead of helping to smite.
-Second of all, the Dragon wasn't going to be THAT huge in power-level, but I backed everyone into a corner and it was the only way to explain it as a mega-artifact-of-doom since you guys nuked the evil-bad-guy contolling it in like, 4 rounds flat (IF that) when he should have been able to nuke you. ^_^
-Being that nobody else was able to do anything except chip away (and yes, I had a plan...but nobody figured out the weekness in time and...well...it happens) the only logical thing to do was for the bard to try to channel all the magical energy.
-And yes, Senie OK'ed the spooky awesome doom of her character well in advance. If you guys found another way, then awesome. But if not...it was the last session before a long break that I could have used to introduce new characters if necessary.
A few bad/lucky/unlucky rolls caused the rest.
It actually worked out story wise better than I had planned, but we all know I'm on crack and my DMing skills are still below mega-awesome.
Regardless, due to the long break we had afterwards, there wasn't any oportunity to continue with a new character for Kersputz here, and I believe he had other campaigns going so it seemed a moot point.
Kudos on the session...it was spectacularly messy and fun, and I'm sorry if I forced any stupid decisions on anyone. Remember...
In D&D...NO idea is stupid. Only the dice determin if its smart or stupid.
Need proof? My drow is still alive.
