Most annoying thing about D&D
Here's an interesting Poll: What urks you about D&D, or table/dice/pencil RPGs in general?

Nuke Dodging.
Super Power campaign (ie: The GM has decided to be wierd and let us all be gods/god equivilants for no apparent reason...the bad guys are equally ridiculously stron too...) I have a spell that can blow up a planet if I pump enough juice into it (and I have, and that's why there are a bunch of super powered bounty hunters after me...)
And the enemy DODGES! HOW THE HELL DO YOU DODGE HAVING YOUR PLANET BLOWN UP?
*huff*

Heh...BOOOM!! Well I did not vote for the unbeatable or untouchable foe, but I did vote for the rule mongers. I have/had a roommate who could not comprehend that the GM is the RULING POWER! What he says GOES, everything else is guidelines. He pointed out rules to me and refused to listen to my decisions (upon request ONLY, I will tell the tale), eventually he quit my campaign and tore up his character sheet. It was really just a pointless argument anyway. But now I am GMing a new PBEM game and I am hopefully doing a good job. Fiss's character is a real neat one, and she just made 2nd level
But the group of undead they are about to face are about to learn a whole new lesson in PAIN!!
Oh btw Fiss its your go! You got first init!

I just hate the people that point to the book and say... "It says so right here, so what I say is right!"
I always point out the Golden Rule of RPGs...
"The DM is God of his world, therefore the DM's word is law, no matter what the rulebook says..."

The option I wanted to put in wasn't there--it was halfway between the "behind the meatshield" comment and the "fuckin' elves" comment.
90% of the time, my RPG group is filled with Elves. Not only that, but every single time...it's the same thing. The Elf is always a sorcerer or Ranger, and is always supposed to be refined and well educated.
I mean...god...try something new, guys. Not only that, but I get labeled as the weird one for playing things like a Sohei (OA) or a Tiefling. sheesh.

Our DM actually started banning full elves....and then when everyone started wanting to be the Human Rogue, he limited it to one human per campaign and made us rock paper scizzors for it.
This is why I stick to the kender. XD

If you think D&D players are bad for that, try playing Magic: The Gathering. :/ Seasoned magic players will argue for hours at a time, during a multi-player game...while all us novices will pack up our decks and head over to the corner to play our own game.

Magic The Gathering...
I entered 2 tournies and learned the hard way that playing against rule-mongers was not fun.
I only have one deck now, and haven't bought any cards in over 3 years.
Way to go, Wizards of the Coast! Fun game! ^_^
Amon and I have some really awesome duels though... we both play for overkill potential.

I started playing Magic as a duelist and I continue as a duelist. It's more fun playing one-on-one then waiting for 20 minutes until it gets to your turn again in a multiplayer game

I like novice multiplayer long play games. ^_^ Building armies and making alliances, teh w00t.
But yeah. Rulemongers, in any case, suck.

I used to be a MTG player. I loved the game and played daily, including a few tournaments. I just got sick of
1. Rule mongers
2. Never-ending cheesier sets of cards.
3. The banning of nearly 1/4 of the cards I would use regularly because they were over-powered, while being less powerfull than most of the new things in the game.
I still like my old cards (started just as "The Dark" was going out of print, quit not long after "Ice Age ended"), but really, what's the point? It's no longer the great game it was. I look at all these ultimate combinations that people spend a fortune to put together. Then I see Fiss play against them with his 1 deck, or me with my flying combination deck, and they just don't stack up for imagination or fun of play. Hell, many of these "uber" decks that I've seen against either of ours have lost. Then the rule-mongers try argue and the power-players start to whine.
I really used to like that game...

I get soooo fugging sick of hearing "my half-drow is so awesome! his mom was raped by a surface raid so i get to be all angsty with all these innate abilities!"
so i asked fiss, when he approached me to join kneverwave1, "do demons ever raid towns?"
thus was born mordechai faust (amon thinks of awesome names) the half-balor, on a quest to rid the universe of as many demons as possible, using only his meager skills as a ranger, inate ability to summon some demons to hunt, and vorpal longsword (thanks fiss!).
when people talk about half-drow, i punch them in the eye.

I hate the Bad Guy Dodges the Tac Nuke.
Rolled on a Level 50 Homing Void Bolt in MErp got an absolute success and the dumb bugger despells it. Hello Absolute Success means nothing can affect the damn thing!!! The GM was a moron anyway.

Elves. Suck.
If I have to deal with one more frolicky, introspective finesse fighter, im going to have to start doing some knee-cap removals. With a rusty spork. I mean seriously, think of something that hasnt been done a million times.

Hey! I know some people who can play elves well...But then again, they can play PALADINS well, so that's saying a lot about their ability as an RPer to begin with. ^_-
I agree, generic elves 'suck the wangchee.'

People who blatantly refuse to try anything different; they play each campaign with nigh on identical characters, GRRR! Try something different once in a while, like... I dunno a half-orc bard, or a Gnomish Monk. Everyone that plays nothing other than the elven ranger of the human rouge can bight the mighty midget fist of steel, or be forced to listen to the Half-Orcs Sinatra medley.
