Post Anyone up for a D&D game?
I want to get started in on D&D, again, but I need players.

While I was trying to get together a PSDF game on the boards (with probably waaay too many rules), I much prefer D&D. (Sorry, Toze.)

So, the details:
It'll be PBEM, or Play-By-E-Mail. My Email is in my profile under the MSN section, for those who don't already have it. And yes, that does mean you can contact me on IMs regarding this, even though actual gameplay will be done over email. PMs would also be an acceptable form of communication. General questions could also probably be formed as responses to this thread.

Pleeease come and play with me. I'm so lonely. ;_;

Specifics:
    - I'll be using D&D 3.5ed, but I don't have the books, at the moment, so I'll be running it using the freely downloadable System Reference Document. Essentially, it's the PHB, DMG, MM, Expanded Psionics Handbook, and some other stuff including epic and divine stuff in Rich Text Format. Very handy.
-I do use Official Errata and Corrections, so if you see me using something that goes against a base rule, that's probably why. If you don't want to be bothered to go through and correct all the mistakes (it only took me a few hours), I would be willing to give a copy of the fully-corrected rules (in rich text format) to any player who has submitted a character to me. These are the corrected versions of the SRD in the above link.
    - Ability scores will be determined by one of two methods: 4D6 drop the lowest, or Standard Point-buy with 32 points. You can choose. If you don't know what these are, contact me, and I'll walk you through it.
Starting gold is rolled normally by class.
    - Non-standard races are allowed with my authorization. I let a kobold go, so it can't be that bad.
    - For those of you that don't already have and love it, Tozetre introduced me, a while ago, to a nifty little program called PCProfiler. It's basically an interactive character sheet manager. Also, it would be best to use this 3.5e template (.zip). Just extract the files to the pcprofiler/templates directory and it should be good to go. If you can't get it working, don't fret; just do it in notepad or some other simple format and email it to me.
    - As should be standard, I think, I will require your character before they are introduced into the game. If you need help making a character, I will help. Believe me, I have a lot of time.
    - I am working on the honour system. This game wasn't specifically made for super-characters, so if you cheat with your rolls or out of character knowledge, you're only cheating yourself and the other players out of fun.

World Notes:
    - New World: I don't like forcing myself to adhere to complete accuracy when using pregenerated worlds. And I can't deviate from complete accuracy because I'm a perfectionist. Unfortunately, this does mean the world is in a variable state and is not yet complete.
    - Low magic: While magic undeniably exists and is controlled by mortals, not everyone has ready access to it. Don't expect to get discounts on bulk magic items. Also, don't expect to be able to pawn them for m4d c01nz.
    - Arcane/Divine/Psionic: Magic is magic. Arcane is to Divine as Divine is to Psionic as Psionic is to Arcane. The differences: Arcane and Divine come from outside sources while Psionic is powered by the Self. Arcane and Divine magic function normally and are semi-transparent (heretofor referred to as "translucent") to Psionic magic. Don't worry; I'll give the details as appropriate.

As more things come up, they will be added. Thank you. ^_^v

Welp, all I know of D&D is from the PSDF... but I'll give it a shot.

I'll go *readreadread*, draw up a character, and hmm... any advice for +-newbs?

Oh, and what sort of a tech/world/scenarion/type stuff should I design a character for?

I mean, I'm kinda thinking cyborgs are outta the question.

The easiest classes for new players to play would be Fighter, Ranger, or Rogue.

Barbarian, Cleric , Sorcerer, and Wizard aren't hard, but they are somewhat more complicated than the above.

Druid is semi-hard. Monk is hard. Paladin is harder. Ranger, despite being an easy class, can be a semi-hard class because of the animal companion.

And By "hard", I really mean "complicated." ;)

B, I'd suggest a cleric. Every party should have one anyway and they're not heavy on fighting (read: if you fight with a cleric, you deserve the greusome death you will receive) so you can get used to the system.

I'd love to play Daemon. You wouldn't mind me playing a Chaotic Neutral Rouge, would you?

I usually play AD&D 2, though...

If you want to limit yourself to that kind of archetype, sure. It could certainly be more interesting, like a LG Rogue. ;)

Good luck trying to find a situation where you wouldn't violate your alignment for using it. ;)v

I'm thinking a Chaotic/Good or Neutral/Good Half-Orc Cleric, trying to atone for his blood, or somesuch.

Would that be possible?

Still reading the Rules (there's... lots), so if there's some hidden problem with that I don't see, please, let me know. I'm thinking the Orc part may interfere with the magic part, and I'm clueless on the cleric's "deities" part, but still reading.

If it doesn't go against the established world... a half-orc raised as/with full Orc's, sometime in his/her teens gets a concience, breaks off, yadda yadda, learns Cleric stuff, now about 30'ish, and that's as far as I'm going with that.

The character idea is fine, but if he's raised by Orcs, he'll have some serious quirks that few would be able to get past. That said, if you really want, it can be worked around.

Oh, and tech levels are standard D&D, pretty much. Think medival times or the dark ages, depending on how you want your character to grow up.

Unless there is any objection, I'd like to join. Prefferably as a Gnomish Ranger, but I'm amazingly flexible.

Actually, in retrospect, that wasn't too well worded was it?

Silent Coyote, yes. Psionics are all good.
Decebalus, yes.
Fiss, niiiice. 8)

I'd just like to take this time to remind people that I have 3 IMs listed in my profile and I have an email address which people can also use for a possibly faster response time. ;)

Also, for those of you that don't already have and love it, Tozetre introduced me, a while ago, to a nifty little program called PCProfiler. It's basically an interactive character sheet manager. Also, it would be best to use this 3.5e (.zip) template. Just extract the files to the pcprofiler/templates directory and it should be good to go. This program uses Xml to do its work, so if you know how to read code, you might even be able to create a better template. ;) (This information has been added to the FirstPost.)

I can't seem to get PCP to work properly. Whenever I try to make a new profile it asks me if I want to "open, save, cancel" the file. Anyone know what's wrong? Any suggestions on how to fix it? You know, besides ditching Windows...

Odd. I'm not experiencing that problem.

I'll make a simple walk-through to making it work, though.

I wonder if the version has changed...

Weel, good news. The version hasn't changed, so it's the same version I'm using.

EARLY WARNING: It's geocities, so you'll get a stupid Yahoo ad on the left. Luckily, it has a tiny little box with an 'x' in it, so you can click the 'x' to close the stupid box. But at least it's free... ;)

Here it is.

Yes, it's overly simplistic, and I didn't go into any detail. This is only for setting up the sheet for basic use. Have fun. ^_^

You get 1 feat no matter what, unless your class or rac says you get more or less, right?

I'd like to purchase psionic weapons, armour, and/or tatoos. Do I need to e-mail you to check if you'll let me have it?

To confirm what you said, you get a feat at first level and at every level divisible by 3. Certain classes and races give bonus feats in addition to the ones gained from character levels.

About psionic (and magic) items, it's a low-magic world; you can't buy these items. Tattoos (and scrolls) may be bought, but I need to authorize it. As a general rule, no single item purchased may cost more than 20% of your starting cash.

That is unfortunate Nic. This is starting with level 1 characters, anyways.

(And rather than make a new post, I'll just edit this, here. I've added some information to the first post. Namely, I will help those who need help making a character, and I will provide a set of the corrected SRD to anyone who has submitted their character to me and asks for it.)

Could someone generate a blank character sheet or one with just random data in it for me? I'll fill in my stuff afterwards but I can't get PCP to work.

Here is the blank sheet.

Do you have both the "35E General.pcpt" file and the "35e General" directory in the "Templates" subdirectory?

The "35e General" subdirectory is very important and is my only guess at what might be missing.

Really, if you can't get it working, feel free to do it by notepad and send me plain text. It's okay.
