Funky speed test results
I recently swapped out my old cable modem for a new one. The old one was starting to fail, so I called Comcast (the local cable company) and they gave me a new one for free.
Today I was downloading a file, and I noticed abnormally high download speeds...so I did about 20 speed tests, all on various sites, methods, and software...and they all gave me pretty much this same result.
How is this possible? I thought cable capped out at about 1.5 Mb/s?

Actually cable caps out closer to 5, 10 and 15 depending on the service these days.
Congrads!

Hug... buh... wha....
Damnit, now my 60k/sec max seems really, really pitiful.

Bandwidth doubles every two years. If you modem is older than that, it wouldn't be capable of the new, higher speeds. T1 lines are antiquated.

A file that big?
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

Notice that even though I live in the UK. The recommended server is in Ireland because I live right on the West Coast.

I'd post mine, but unfortunatly i have no PC still
But when she's up..i get about 200kb/s which would work out to close to 1.5mbps
my friends who live literally next to the ISP back home, when the 10mb connections came out, everyone in the block - 2 block radius got upgraded for free if they would swap out their old cable modems.
So my friend went to upgrade the modem, upgraded to a hacked Lancity cable modem and we started to syphon 15mb out them.. scared the living shit out of me to see something download at close to 2Mb/s
Update:
Thats about what i'm currently getting.
