Post Took a trip down memory lane...
...yesterday when I watched some of my favourite sessions of Cowboy Bebop. It'd been years since I last watched the show and ever since it started airing again on Adult Swim, my interest in it was renewed.

To those of you who've seen it or are fans of it, what are your favourite sessions?

Mine:

Session #5 - "Ballad of Fallen Angels"
Session #8 - "Waltz for Venus"
Session #11 - "Toys in the Attic"
Session #17 - "Mushroom Samba"
Session #19 - "Wild Horses"
Session #20 - "Pierrot le Fou"
Session #24 - "Hard Luck Woman"
Session #26 - "The Real Folk Blues, part II"

The ending to the series is probably one of the heaviest and most whimsical I've seen in any anime. I mean, when Spike emerges from the ruined building, does the 'bang!' gesture, collapses, and then the song "Blue" starts to play...it just gets me everytime I see it.

Good times.

Amen to that.

I also really enjoyed the movie. It was kind of a "best of" combined with a "for the fans" story. While nothing could top Spike's final scene like you mentioned, I found the ending of Heaven's Door was pretty powerful in its own right.

Plus:
-Macross-esque chase-sequence dogfighting
-One of the coolest villans in Anime
-Amazing music (as if there was any doubt about this part...)

Plus, it had geezers flying biplanes to save the day. Much win. :D

I will agree with that..but coolest Villian's in anime..

I must go with Knives from Trigun.

Just both brothers were great..knives going ape = funny.. but also making Vash go ape too with his controller was also fun.

Other memoriable baddies:

The new Sasuke from Naruto.. Wee for thoes who watch but not read..you'll enjoy.

Anemone from Eureka 7 - Psychotic, love her to bits.. thats after i blow her up that is..

And who can't forget..Sephiroth's return in FF:AC thanks to Genova and Kadaj

Zangetsu,

Yeah, but you know, I was disappointed that Knives only appeared on screen during the last three-or-so episodes in the anime. I know he probably appeared more in the manga, but in the anime, Legato tended to fill the role of big bad more.

My favorite anime/manga villians:

Pride (a.k.a. Fuhrer Bradley) from Fullmetal Alchemist
Kimbley (Crimson Alchemist) - also from FMA
Envy - FMA again
Archanfel - Biobooster Armor Guyver (ridiculously powerful and badass)
Dietrich von Lohengrin - Trinity Blood
Gin Ichimaru - Bleach (as if my avatar isn't any indication :D)
Diva - Blood+ (I wouldn't mind being her Chevalier 8))
Light Yagami - Death Note (he's so deliciously sociopathic; doesn't give a shit about anyone, even his own family, and he's the protagonist; sweet!)
Ran Asuka - Devilman Lady
Gendo Ikari - Neon Genesis Evangelion (total and complete prick)
Shinobu Sensui - Yu Yu Hakusho (one of the most inovative and engrossing antagonists I've ever seen)

I was thinking about adding Jin Kariya from Bleach's Bount-arc. He was sort of cool, but I hate that ridiculously long filler series too much, so screw 'im.

He in indeed quite bad-assed. I also vote for the Neo Alantians from Nadia - serious technology, resources, and a true Nazi-esque belief that they were so far above Humans that Humans deserved to be squished messily under their mighty boots of Bluewater Doom.

A few more:

Greed - FMA (though he wasn't altogether bad, he was still cool nonetheless)

The Mad Pierrot - Cowboy Bebop (his PK powers were pretty neat, and he was bat-shit-fucking insane)

Yujiro Hanma - Baki the Grappler (guy's fucking unstoppable, plus he was cold enough to kill the mother of his child right in front of his child)

Kaname Tousen - Bleach (an underutilized and underappreciated character)

Hideo Kuze - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - 2nd Gig (poised, classy, and motivated)
