Attending because it looks fascinating (Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, and Judaism discussing salvation). Posting here for interest's sake, and planning to do a followup later. Evidently they've got a yearly conference. If it's as good as it looks, I'll be delighted. Alas, it's only 3 hours long. http://islamevents.ca/medicine-hat I plan to ask the Buddhist reverend about difficulties in reaching the North American mind through the whole "personal responsibility before God" meme we share. And I'm quite interested in the Muslim's interpretation of the bloodier passages of the Koran, and how the evidently messianic founder of his movement may have adjusted the more common "the Koran is not to be interpreted" meme which blocks progressivism in mosques. |
